And the sky beyond."

My god.

One of the most powerful poems I've ever read. I've carried that image of the clinging bird with me for a long time.

Can't you hear the wailing? I think that is what it is for me. The poet has planted a sound inside my head.

And yes -- that bird clinging beside that hole.
